How should the cost of the goods you sell be calculated? It is chosen once per company; a later change applies only from that moment on, and past sales keep the cost they were sold at.

Costing method

Weighted average Recommended. Every receipt updates the average cost of what is in stock (IAS 2). FIFO (first in, first out) Goods are costed in the order they were received (IAS 2). Last purchase price The cost of the latest receipt. For management reports only: it is not an IAS 2 cost formula, so the statutory valuation uses weighted average or FIFO.

Selling prices after a purchase

Suggest a price Recommended. Each received line shows cost plus markup; you decide. Keep my prices Receiving goods never changes selling prices. Apply the markup Cost plus markup becomes the new price of every received line.
